What countries can Chinese passport holders visit with a UK visa?
Updated 2026-07-20 · every rule verified against official government sources
A valid UK visa in a Chinese passport unlocks 6 extra countries — no separate visa needed. The headline unlocks for Chinese citizens: Mexico (180 days), Peru (180 days), Ireland (90 days). Plus 6 of the UK visa unlock destinations are open to your passport even without it — both lists below.
Why do countries do this? UK consular vetting is accepted as good enough — Ireland built a whole scheme on it (the British-Irish Visa Scheme), and Mexico, Georgia and Saudi Arabia wrote UK visas into their entry rules.
Unlocked for Chinese citizens by a UK visa
| Country | What you get | Key condition |
|---|---|---|
| 🇲🇽 Mexico | Visa-free, 180 days | visa must be valid; residence must be permanent |
| 🇵🇪 Peru | Visa-free, 180 days | visa valid for at least 6 months; permanent residence of these countries also qualifies |
| 🇮🇪 Ireland | Visa-free, 90 days | UK short-stay visa; must enter the UK first, then travel on to Ireland |
| 🇩🇴 Dominican Republic | Visa-free, 30 days | valid visa or residence permit |
| 🇲🇪 Montenegro | Visa-free, 30 days | valid visa |
| 🇵🇦 Panama | Visa-free, 30 days | multiple-entry visa, used at least once to enter the issuing country |
Open to a Chinese passport anyway
These UK visa-unlock countries already admit Chinese citizens without it:
The fine print that actually matters
1. Ireland has an order-of-entry condition. The 90-day Irish waiver works only if you enter the UK first on your UK short-stay visa, then travel onward to Ireland — flying straight into Dublin does not qualify.
2. “Used” matters. Albania, Panama, Saudi Arabia and Egypt require at least one UK entry stamp — a fresh, never-used visa fails this test.
3. A UK eTA is not a visa. None of these rules accept the UK's electronic travel authorisation — you need an actual visa vignette in your passport.
Entry requirements change — each rule on the UK visa unlocks page cites its official source with a "last verified" date. Re-check before booking.
